Reflection from Christine Provvidenza, Knowledge Translation Specialist, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Toronto

As a KMb Practitioner from Canada, I attended the UK KMb Forum to explore KMb practices outside of the four walls of where I work and learn from “future” colleagues from across the pond.

Following the “unconference” principles and the “laws of two feet” of the Forum, I quickly made new friends and learned that challenges I face and questions that I and the team I work with have are quite common.  How do we overcome barriers to translating knowledge into practice? Why do we measure KMb and do we need to? What does knowledge sharing look like?

Discussing these questions took place in a creative and safe space, resulting in me adding some new tools to my KMb toolbox such as the fishbowl technique, jam session and creative co-production of knowledge.

I came away with a better understanding of what the KMb role looks like in the UK and how Library and Knowledge Services are engaged.

In attending this Forum I have expanded my KMb network, exchanged knowledge with others, and have started the process of partnership building.  Coming to the Forum has left me with a renewed sense of my KMb self and why I do what I do.
